Duramax HMK Spin-On Filters
Donaldson Duramax HMK and HNK series medium-pressure spin-on hydraulic filters (HMK03, HMK05/HMK25, HNK04/HNK05). Heavy-duty steel canister with die-cast top plate, Synteq synthetic media rated βx(c) ≥ 1000 per ISO 16889, in multiple element lengths and micron grades. HNK is the Generation 2 RadialSeal redesign.
Series naming logic
Duramax spin-on elements are identified by a P-prefixed part number (e.g. P165659, P170308). The housing family (HMK03 or HMK05/HMK25) determines the baseplate thread (2"-12 for HMK03; 1-3/4"-12 UNF-2B for HMK05/25) and max flow. Media grade is printed as a micron rating with βx(c) ≥ 1000; seal material is nitrile (NBR) by default, fluorocarbon (Viton) on specific part numbers.

Selecting within the Duramax HMK series
- Pick the size code from the existing housing nameplate or from the old element’s overall OD and length.
- Pick the grade to meet the target ISO 4406 cleanliness code — finer grades load faster and raise cold-start Δp.
- Pick the collapse execution: low-collapse BN4HC for return housings, high-collapse BH4HC where pressure spikes demand it.
- Confirm seals and bypass: NBR for mineral oils; check for an integral bypass valve before substituting executions.
